How to book a model: the brief that gets the right options back

For brands · 27 October 2026 · 2 min read

When a brief is clear, a booker can come back quickly with the right three or four people. When it is vague, you get a long list, a few calls and a week gone. Most of the difference comes down to a handful of details.

1. What you are making

Campaign, e-commerce, lookbook, editorial, video or an event. Each one changes who we suggest. An e-commerce day needs someone fast and consistent over sixty looks. A campaign needs a face that carries your brand for a season. Say which it is in the first line.

2. Dates, and how firm they are

Give the shoot date and any fitting or travel days. If the date might move, say so. Models hold dates for you on option, and knowing how firm your plans are helps us manage everyone's diary fairly.

3. Location and hours

City, studio or location, and the length of the day. A half day in a Glasgow studio and a ten hour location day in the Highlands are different bookings with different costs.

4. Usage

Where the images or film will appear, for how long, and in which countries. Usage is often the biggest part of the fee, so it shapes the budget more than anything else. If you are not sure yet, describe the plan and we will help you scope it.

5. Budget

A range is enough. It lets us suggest people who fit, rather than guessing and starting again. We would rather know early that a budget is tight and find a way to make it work.

6. The look and the brief

Describe the person, not just the measurements: the feeling, the age range, the energy. Share a moodboard or references if you have them. Tell us about anything specific to the job, such as visible tattoos, hair that cannot change, sizes for samples, or skills like swimming or driving.

7. Who else is on the shoot

If you are casting a group, tell us who is already booked. Models are often chosen in relation to each other, and a booker can balance a cast so it looks right together.

What happens next

We come back with options and confirmed availability, usually with links to profiles and digitals. You can hold your favourites, ask for a casting or self-tape, and confirm when you are ready. Nothing is booked until you confirm.

You can browse our women, men and new faces boards, add people to a package and send it with your brief. Or send a brief and let our bookers suggest the cast.
